The photo shoot process.
Let's just keep it simple.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HOWARD HOLLEY PORTRAITS.

Where will the photo shoot take place?

Once we talk and I know what type of portrait you are wanting, then we will schedule a location shoot at your residence or place of business. The session can have a studio look or an environmental look, you decide.

How long will it take?
Be prepared to spend at least an hour, possibly two. For business headshots only, we can shoot about 30 frames in a half hour.

What should I wear?
I would recommend at least two different outfits, keeping in mind that
color coordination with the shooting environment and each person in the portrait is extremely important. Simple dark and / or neutral solid colors are the best such as blues, greens, grays and burgundies are great color choices. Avoid patterns, stripes and busy outfits that compete with the most important element in the photo, you. For outdoor portraits a casual look , nice jeans / slacks with a long sleeve pressed shirt, or casual western or southwestern dress will always look appropriate.

There are plenty of fashion tips available to help you look your best and that highlight your best features. Remember dark colors slim and light / bright colors tend to be broadening.

What should I do to get ready?
Be "photo-ready"
For women, have your hair and makeup done by a professional hair and makeup stylist before the shoot. I can arrange to have a professional makeup artist on the set. If you look your best, you'll photograph your best and feel good about yourself during the shoot.
For men, get a trim or hair cut a week or so before the shoot.
Unless you like the way you look with a five o'clock shadow be sure to shave or have an electric razor handy. I won’t be able to photoshop that out and if I have to send the digital image to a retouch specialist, the retouching will not be inexpensive.

Should I use Visine?
I wouldn't recommend it because Visine can temporarily enlarge the pupils and we want the color of your eyes to have more significance than a black dot.

Will you pose me?
I will help direct you with posing and will work with you to achieve a natural pose that looks flattering.
You are welcome to come up with your own poses and I may recommend a slight modifications.
For men there are certain types of poses that project masculinity and for women there are certain poses that reflect femininity.
Also, depending on your facial and body features, we can come up with corrective lighting, posing and camera angles that help to reduce the appearance of certain flaws. We all have them and we all have a favorite side so please don't be afraid to let me know about them. I want you to look your best.

Do you include any Photoshop enhancements and retouching?
Each selected image will always include, at no extra cost, minor retouches such as, removing certain blemishes, reducing wrinkles, fine lines, crows feet, smile lines, (Note: most wrinkles can be dramatically softened with proper lighting techniques to begin with) removing fly-away hairs, teeth and eye whitening, skin tone enhancements and digital airbrushing for women, and slight airbrushing for men.

Do carry liability insurance?
Abosolutely.
